　　The society is always moving and advancing including the way we produce, process and store food. Nowadays, we know how to grow plants more effectively and how to cook them more deliciously. However, by pushing our fragile earth to its extreme, we have made our environment become so barren and toxic that the quality of our food actually has decreased. In addition, with introduction of various preservatives and additives, we have also “polluted” our food like never before.

　　The scale of industrialization has been increasing since several decades ago because of the growing population that demands more and more. By either watching TV or reading scientific articles, we can tell that we have used too much fossil fuel and gas, which have polluted the air directly and therefore polluted crops indirectly. In order to make satisfying electrical products and fancy gadgets, we have also polluted many rivers we use to irrigate plants. To conclude, there are too many undesirable chemicals and harmful substances incorporated into our food today, making the food anything but healthy.

　　Regardless of the pollutions, we also use lots of unnecessary ingredients to process our food today. Generally, people cannot tell if there is any harmful additive in what they digest, but according to many experts, we definitely have produced a lot of food that was overly processed behind the scenes. For instance, our milk powder, ketchup and of course, our beloved fried chickens. Statistics have shown that by eating those processed foods, our lives could be shortened by up to 10 years.

　　To summarize, the food we eat today, if compared to what we ate in the past, is absolutely worse.
