　　Nowadays, graduating students are overwhelmed by all sorts of responsibilities. While some people believe it is not wise for them to participate in extra courses, I think it is necessary for students to take a course in public speaking before they graduate.

　　It is understandable that ask students facing their own graduation to participate in a public speaking course may increase their burdens, considering their already heavy loads of studying. This is because students who will graduate soon always have a lot to deal with, ranging from their academic tasks, like GRE or GMAT scores to their personal resume for seeking employment. Taking a course in public speaking can be time-consuming and ming-distracting for them at this particular time. In other words, it is a waste time and energy for those students to do so. So, some people may argue that it is not necessary for graduating students to take a public speaking course.

　　But, in my opinion, taking such a course can be rewarding. First，taking a course in public speaking may provide these students with the opportunity to engage in activities such as information gathering, mind storming and decision making and to experience nerve and tension during a speech. And these experiences and moments are hardly within reach during daily life for any one,let along graduating students.

　　Also, skills like being able to speaking in front of a large group of people can have a positive impact on one’s career. Companies nowadays always place great importance on students’ overall abilities rather than on their academic achievements solely. So, when a graduating student seek employment after he or she graduates, such skill will allow him or her to better attract companies’ attentions and eventually get the job he or she desires.

　　In conclusion, although taking a course in public speaking can be time-consuming, its’ benefits without doubt outweigh its’ disadvantages.
