  Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Company should pay for employees to get university degree?

  解题思路:

  题目大意:公司是否应该支付员工获得大学文凭的费用。 这题正面的立意比较好入手,但是要注意动作的主体是公司,所以要从公司的角度出发,而不是单单讲述对员工的好处。企业逐利的本性限制了讨论的范围。 参考观点 1. 员工学习的知识和技能可以给公司带来更多的利润。 2. 培养忠诚的员工,保证公司文化传承。 3. 履行公司的社会责任,培养人才,有利于声誉。

  参考范文:

  Some companies sponsor their employees in further education, while some others are reluctant to do the same. Though the latter have legitimate concerns, it is my adamant belief that corporate sponsorship should be encouraged when employees intends to pursue a university degree.

  The most significant benefit is that a company has as much to gain via paying the employees to obtain a college education as the employees. As a matter of fact, the support from employers does not come without conditions, which typically requires the employee to work for the company for a number of years, and some even stipulated a fixed salary. As we all know, human resources is a determining factor for a growth of a company, especially in technology and service industry. After employees finishes further education, they can apply what they have learnt to work, hence improving profitability of the employers. For instance, Vanke group, a large real estate developer in China, have started to send 10 employees to graduate school each years. The outcome has amazed the company—these employees returned to work equipped with fresh perspective, some of whom made more profits for the company than the tuition fee. The morale is that sponsoring staff to obtain university education is a wise investment.

  Moreover, this practice has a more profound implication, namely loyalty to the company that has values beyond monetary measure. When employees receive support from the company to pursue college degree, they are more likely to develop gratitude towards the company, identifying with the corporate values and beliefs. Staff members who embody the corporate culture are the ones keeping the company competitive. On this level, financial support is rewarded with spread of the company ethos. Is there a better deal? An analogous case is when universities offer scholarships, the students are likely to return the favor years after graduation, but in more than 10 times the original sum. More importantly, they usually become hearty endorsers of the university, helping to build a great reputation of the institution.

  With that said, we also have to admit some downsides of sponsoring employees. For one thing, the financial state of a business may become more vulnerable if it pays for the tuition. For another, the extent to which the employees can contribute to the company is in fact unknown. However, these potential counterarguments can be easily refuted by selecting staff members with proven capability and appropriating a rational amount of money to this project.

  In conclusion, there is irrefutable benefits for both the company in supporting employees to pursue college education. Not only can it lead to profit increase of the enterprise, but also ensure its long term competitiveness. Hopefully, more corporations can start to embrace the opportunity to initiative positive changes by supporting its employees in getting university degree.
